DFW IT Professionals August 5th User Group Meeting

Meeting Topic: DFW IT Pro August 5th UG - Virtualization Ecosystem- Citrix, HyperV and VmWare

Topic Description: During our August 5th DFW IT Pro User Group meeting we will be talking about the Aspects of virtualization and the Major Players in virtualization.

The Aspects of Virtualization include:

  • Server Virtualization The practice of partitioning a single server so that it appears as multiple servers has long been common practice in mainframe computers, but has seen a resurgence lately with the development of virtualization software and technologies for other architectures.
  • Application virtualization is an umbrella term that describes software technologies that improve portability, manageability and compatibility of applications by encapsulating them from the underlying operating system on which they are executed.
  • Desktop virtualization (sometimes called client virtualization), as a concept, separates a personal computer desktop environment from a physical machine. When users work from their remote desktop client, all of the programs, applications, processes, and data used are kept and run centrally.

The major software players in virtualization:

  1. VMWare
  2. Citrix
  3. Microsoft

Please Join us August 5th to understand the virtualization landscape with respect to function (Server, App and Desktop) and vendor (VMware, Citrix and Microsoft). It will be a great event and will be taught by a virtualization instructor from new horizons.

Microsoft is conducting a simple survey to any/all of you who consider yourselves members of a professional user group or professional organization. The survey is very short, but gives you a really good opportunity to tell us how you feel about Microsoft.

They really value your feedback, so THANK YOU in advance for doing this.
