Since our upcoming August user group meeting is on Windows 8 & 8.1 I thought I’d share an interesting infographic from our friends over at Dell. Full disclosure here, I’m know Dell is heavily invested in the success of Windows 8 so while I found these 7 reasons compelling, they really don’t address any of the concerns end users have been having. Instead, these 7 reasons are focused on geared towards business & IT buyers in corporations looking for a mobile devices solution that provides the control and security of windows in the rapidly growing mobility space.
As someone who works for a managed it services provider I can say that the IT security concerns around BYOD are real and represent a huge challenge for corporate IT security & risk departments. Large corporate buyer resistance to BYOD have only partially slowed the tide of BYOD and mobility in the enterprise instead of stopping it. BYOD and mobile devices have crossed the chasm, and it’s only a matter of time before the late majority adopts BYOD as the status quo. Hopefully Microsoft and Windows 8 will have a play in this space because they have some compelling new features in all the latest versions of Windows 8. (Window 8 Phone, Surface RT, Surface Pro, and Windows 8) Check out the benefits below and let me know if you agree, disagree, and if you’ve had any other interesting experiences with Windows 8.
